may2012-photo1.jpg As we head into the final 80 days to the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Canadian Olympic Team will launch a dynamic new brand campaign celebrating Canada's outstanding Olympic hopefuls as they prepare to compete for Canada in London 2012. Follow their journey online at www.olympic.ca

The 2012 edition of the Canadian Olympic School Program (COSP) was launched at Williamson Road Junior Public School in Toronto. London Olympic hopefuls Mary Spencer (Boxing) Martin Reader (Beach Volleyball) and Tobias Oriwol (Swimming) addressed approximately 600 eager students in grades Kindergarten to 6, as well as the teaching staff and parents.

The COSP has operated since 1987, and provides teachers and students across Canada with Olympic-themed classroom and school resources.

Various Canadian athletes are featured throughout the program. Three athletes chosen for this year, share their story about their passion, determination and journey in becoming Olympians. Jennifer Abel (Diving), Mary Spencer (Boxing) and Simon Whitfield (Triathlon) challenge the students to be their best and to adopt and maintain healthy active lifestyles. The major themes for 2012 include: healthy active living, leadership and respect.

Check out the three latest COSP modules that have just been posted and learn about Canada's top summer athletes and the Host Country as the world prepares for London 2012. Focusing on social media to promote Canadian Olympians, the Olympic Games and other related activities, students are challenged to create their own multimedia "campaign". Students can focus on more traditional media methods (print, radio or televisions) or new emerging social media trends (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc) while developing a Request for Proposal (RFP) and present their ideas to the executive director of marketing (Teacher).

Catch the excitement of the London 2012 Olympic Games by hosting a School Summer Sports Day. Enjoy the fun of 18 modified versions of the summer sports of the Olympic Games program. This is your chance to let your students experience their own Olympic Games. By participating in modified versions of summer sports, students will possess a better understanding of the sports, athletes' journeys, Olympic values and be equipped in getting behind Canada's Olympic Team during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In the summer of 2012, the world will come to the United Kingdom when London hosts the 2012 Olympic Games. Students have entered the sport tourism industry and have been tasked with the job of creating the ultimate youth travel package for the London 2012 Olympic Games. We encourage you to challenge students to create an action-packed tour package that features London's historic and cultural highlights, and offers the chance to see Canada's best athletes go for gold.
